9-11

By the time I could get myself to write 9-11, it was 9-14 already. Five years later, and it's 9-11 again. And I'm finally on time.

It is with near-uncanny timing I offer to you, the world, today's FunCast.

What a great message, Bernie. I wish more people would not only hear it, but heed it.

Sunday, thanks to the Pittsburgh Cacophony Society and MEETinPittsburgh, a group of strangers gathered in a public park for a water battle playfully called "Hydrocide." We were a relatively small group, but an inevitably happy one, and we even managed to recruit a few strangers to join us. Armed with super-soakers, water balloons and good old-fashioned squirt guns, we did our part to remind our corner of the world that it's OK to have fun in public, and especially nice to share that fun with random members of the community.

I can't help but wonder if our antics would have been tolerated a few years ago, so close to the anniversary of 9-11. Perhaps, thanks to time, our society has started to heal. Perhaps it won't be long until public displays of fun are commonplace again.
